Stitch class-300:Lock stitch :
Features :
- The stitch types in this class are formed with two or more groups of threads, and have for a general characteristic the interlacing of these thread.
- Loops of one group are passed through the material and are secured by the thread or threads of a second group.
- One group are generally referred to as the needle threads and other group as bobbin threads.
- The interlacing of thread in stitches of this class makes them very secure and difficult to unravel.
Properties :
- Low bulk and thin
- Good strength and abrasion resistance Poor elasticity
- Non ravel limited sewing length
- Need to replace bobbin thread.
- Cant use for seams requiring stretch.
- Equal amount of needle and bobbin threads are used and upper and lower threads interlocks in the center of the fabric.
Uses :
- Button holing, button attaching, side seam, zigzag stitch, blind stitch.
- Used for general sewing both for domestic sewing machine and industrial uses.
- General purpose: sewing, joining different components during garments making, top stitching etc.
- Extensively used in sewing and fabric attachment as pocket, collar, cuff, facing etc
